LECTURA DEL DÍA
1ª lectura:
Del Libro del Génesis 3, 9-15. 20
Después de que el hombre y la mujer comieron del fruto del árbol prohibido, el Señor Dios llamó al hombre y le preguntó: “¿Dónde estás?” Éste le respondió: “Oí tus pasos en el jardín; tuve miedo, porque estoy desnudo, y me escondí”. Entonces le dijo Dios: “¿Y quién te ha dicho que estabas desnudo? ¿Has comido acaso del árbol del que te prohibí comer?” Respondió Adán: “La mujer que me diste por compañera me ofreció del fruto del árbol y comí”. El Señor Dios dijo a la mujer: “¿Por qué has hecho esto?” Repuso la mujer: “La serpiente me engañó y comí”.
Entonces dijo el Señor Dios a la serpiente:
“Porque has hecho esto,
serás maldita entre todos los animales
y entre todas las bestias salvajes.
Te arrastrarás sobre tu vientre y comerás polvo
todos los días de tu vida.
Pondré enemistad entre ti y la mujer,
entre tu descendencia y la suya;
y su descendencia te aplastará la cabeza,
mientras tú tratarás de morder su talón”.
El hombre le puso a su mujer el nombre de “Eva”, porque ella fue la madre de todos los vivientes.
Salmo: Sal 97, 1. 2-3ab. 3c-4
R. Cantad al Señor un cántico nuevo, porque ha hecho maravillas.

Su diestra le ha dado la victoria, su santo brazo. R.

El Señor da a conocer su salvación, revela a las naciones su justicia.

Los confines de la tierra han contemplado la victoria de nuestro Dios.

2ª lectura:
Dios nos eligió en Cristo antes de la fundación del mundo.
Lectura de la carta del apóstol san Pablo a los Efesios 1, 3-6. 11-12
Bendito sea Dios, Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que nos ha bendecido en Cristo con toda clase de bendiciones espirituales en los cielos.
Él nos eligió en Cristo antes de la fundación del mundo, para que fuésemos santos e irreprochables ante él por
el amor.
Él nos ha destinado por medio de Jesucristo, según el beneplácito de su voluntad, a ser sus hijos, para alabanza de la gloria de su gracia, que tan generosamente nos ha concedido en el Amado.
En él hemos heredado también, los que ya estábamos destinados por decisión del que lo hace todo según su
voluntad, para que seamos alabanza de su gloria quienes antes esperábamos en el Mesías.

Alégrate, María, llena de gracia, el Señor está contigo,
bendita tú entre las mujeres. R.
EVANGELIO DEL DÍA
Evangelio según Lucas 1, 26-38
En aquel tiempo, el ángel Gabriel fue enviado por Dios a una ciudad de Galilea, llamada Nazaret, a una virgen desposada con un varón de la estirpe de David, llamado José. La virgen se llamaba María.
Entró el ángel a donde ella estaba y le dijo: “Alégrate, llena de gracia, el Señor está contigo”. Al oír estas palabras, ella se preocupó mucho y se preguntaba qué querría decir semejante saludo.
El ángel le dijo: “No temas, María, porque has hallado gracia ante Dios. Vas a concebir y a dar a luz un hijo y le pondrás por nombre Jesús. Él será grande y será llamado Hijo del Altísimo; el Señor Dios le dará el trono de David, su padre, y él reinará sobre la casa de Jacob por los siglos y su reinado no tendrá fin”.
María le dijo entonces al ángel: “¿Cómo podrá ser esto, puesto que yo permanezco virgen?” El ángel le contestó: “El Espíritu Santo descenderá sobre ti y el poder del Altísimo te cubrirá con su sombra. Por eso, el Santo, que va a nacer de ti, será llamado Hijo de Dios. Ahí tienes a tu parienta Isabel, que a pesar de su vejez, ha concebido un hijo y ya va en el sexto mes la que llamaban estéril, porque no hay nada imposible para Dios”. María contestó: “Yo soy la esclava del Señor; cúmplase en mí lo que me has dicho”. Y el ángel se retiró de su presencia.

Première Lecture
Lecture du livre de la Genèse
(Gn 3, 9-15.20)
Quand Adam eut mangé du fruit de l’arbre,
le Seigneur Dieu l’appela et lui dit :
« Où es-tu donc ? »
L’homme répondit :
« J’ai entendu ta voix dans le jardin,
j’ai pris peur parce que je suis nu,
et je me suis caché. »
Le Seigneur reprit :
« Qui donc t’a dit que tu étais nu ?
Aurais-tu mangé de l’arbre
dont je t’avais interdit de manger ? »
L’homme répondit :
« La femme que tu m’as donnée,
c’est elle qui m’a donné du fruit de l’arbre,
et j’en ai mangé. »
Le Seigneur Dieu dit à la femme :
« Qu’as-tu fait là ? »
La femme répondit :
« Le serpent m’a trompée,
et j’ai mangé. »
Alors le Seigneur Dieu dit au serpent :
« Parce que tu as fait cela,
tu seras maudit parmi tous les animaux
et toutes les bêtes des champs.
Tu ramperas sur le ventre et tu mangeras de la poussière
tous les jours de ta vie.
Je mettrai une hostilité entre toi et la femme,
entre ta descendance et sa descendance :
celle-ci te meurtrira la tête,
et toi, tu lui meurtriras le talon. »
L’homme appela sa femme Ève (c’est-à-dire : la vivante),
parce qu’elle fut la mère de tous les vivants.
Deuxième Lecture
Lecture de la lettre de saint Paul Apôtre aux Éphésiens
(Ep 1, 3-6.11-12)
Béni soit Dieu, le Père
de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ !
Il nous a bénis et comblés
des bénédictions de l’Esprit,
au ciel, dans le Christ.
Il nous a choisis, dans le Christ,
avant la fondation du monde,
pour que nous soyons saints, immaculés
devant lui, dans l’amour.
Il nous a prédestinés
à être, pour lui, des fils adoptifs
par Jésus, le Christ.
Ainsi l’a voulu sa bonté,
à la louange de gloire de sa grâce,
la grâce qu’il nous donne
dans le Fils bien-aimé.
En lui, nous sommes devenus
le domaine particulier de Dieu,
nous y avons été prédestinés
selon le projet de celui qui réalise tout ce qu’il a décidé :
il a voulu que nous vivions
à la louange de sa gloire,
nous qui avons d’avance espéré dans le Christ.
ÉVANGILE DU JOUR
Évangile de Jésus Christ selon saint Luc
(Lc 1, 26-38)
En ce temps-là,
l’ange Gabriel fut envoyé par Dieu
dans une ville de Galilée, appelée Nazareth,
à une jeune fille vierge,
accordée en mariage à un homme de la maison de David,
appelé Joseph ;
et le nom de la jeune fille était Marie.
L’ange entra chez elle et dit :
« Je te salue, Comblée-de-grâce,
le Seigneur est avec toi. »
À cette parole, elle fut toute bouleversée,
et elle se demandait ce que pouvait signifier cette salutation.
L’ange lui dit alors :
« Sois sans crainte, Marie,
car tu as trouvé grâce auprès de Dieu.
Voici que tu vas concevoir et enfanter un fils ;
tu lui donneras le nom de Jésus.
Il sera grand,
il sera appelé Fils du Très-Haut ;
le Seigneur Dieu
lui donnera le trône de David son père ;
il régnera pour toujours sur la maison de Jacob,
et son règne n’aura pas de fin. »
Marie dit à l’ange :
« Comment cela va-t-il se faire,
puisque je ne connais pas d’homme ? »
L’ange lui répondit :
« L’Esprit Saint viendra sur toi,
et la puissance du Très-Haut
te prendra sous son ombre ;
c’est pourquoi celui qui va naître sera saint,
il sera appelé Fils de Dieu.
Or voici que, dans sa vieillesse, Élisabeth, ta parente,
a conçu, elle aussi, un fils
et en est à son sixième mois,
alors qu’on l’appelait la femme stérile.
Car rien n’est impossible à Dieu. »
Marie dit alors :
« Voici la servante du Seigneur ;
que tout m’advienne selon ta parole. »

First reading from the Book of Genesis
Gn 3:9-15, 20
After the man, Adam, had eaten of the tree,
the LORD God called to the man and asked him, “Where are you?”
He answered, “I heard you in the garden;
but I was afraid, because I was naked,
so I hid myself.”
Then he asked, “Who told you that you were naked?
You have eaten, then,
from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat!”
The man replied, “The woman whom you put here with me
she gave me fruit from the tree, and so I ate it.”
The LORD God then asked the woman,
“Why did you do such a thing?”
The woman answered, “The serpent tricked me into it, so I ate it.”
Then the LORD God said to the serpent:
“Because you have done this, you shall be banned
from all the animals
and from all the wild creatures;
on your belly shall you crawl,
and dirt shall you eat
all the days of your life.
I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
he will strike at your head,
while you strike at his heel.”
The man called his wife Eve,
because she became the mother of all the living.
Second reading from Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians
Eph 1:3-6, 11-12
Brothers and sisters:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in Christ
with every spiritual blessing in the heavens,
as he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world,
to be holy and without blemish before him.
In love he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ,
in accord with the favor of his will,
for the praise of the glory of his grace
that he granted us in the beloved.
In him we were also chosen,
destined in accord with the purpose of the One
who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will,
so that we might exist for the praise of his glory,
we who first hoped in Christ.
GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lk 1:26-38
The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
“Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.”
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”
But Mary said to the angel,
“How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?”
And the angel said to her in reply,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God.”
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”
Then the angel departed from her.
